This site is dedicated to the most unusual and visually interesting book ever published, the Codex Seraphinianus by Luigi Serafini.

Described as a travelogue or encyclopedia for a strange parallel or alien world, the Codex has been baffling “readers” since its original publication in the late 1970s. The book (360pp) is filled with exotic, full-color images which defy explanation, partly due to the fact that all captioning and descriptive text is written in an unknown language. Even the page numbers took some effort to crack. It turns out the pages are numbered in a base-21 variant, according to This and This.

The language itself has yet to be cracked.
